Following your categorical statement that Oppenheimer is not an oligarch, I did a Google search on “Oligarchy”:

Yes, technically you are 100% right. Oppenheimer though, controls the lot, period.
 
Furthermore, the statement by this person representing Oppenheimer is patently false.

The Kremlin released the photo back on 3 October 2008, 759 odd days after the photo was taken in Cape Town, South Africa, 5 September 2006.

Mr Putin said he was pleased to note the growing cooperation between De Beers and leading Russian diamond producer ALROSA, and that he hoped this constructive cooperation would continue.

I have to address more your comment “which he is not” an oligarch.
 
Assuming the best in you, it is reasonable that unless you have an interest in either money or minerals, you wouldn’t know the first thing about the German-South African Oppenheimer family who have ruled mineral rich South Africa, with no opposition since 26 May 1948, and they continue to this day.
 
I am not only expert in “military economics”, but Nicholas Oppenheimer’s father, Harry Oppenheimer [1908-2000] hired me right out of university; and before I officially joined in early spring 1979 his one of a kind, unequalled banking-mining monopoly, I spent a year of orientation that was directly supervised by Harry Oppenheimer, who was intimately familiar with my and my immediate family’s history going back to the early 1950s when Harry’s American partner, German-American Charles W. Engelhard Jr. [1917-1971] took a minority interest in my immediate family’s ACME TIMBER INDUSTRIES
 
one of the many subsidiaries of The Moshal Gevisser Group of Companies [1910-1970] whose key co-founder was my paternal grandfather, Israel Issy Gevisser [c. 1890 – 24 February 1970]; and in 1956 Engelhard Jr. took majority ownership, but Moshal Gevisser retained, “administrative and technical control”.

Suffice to mention some 28 years ago, late 1993, Randolph Apperson Hearst [1915-2000], Chairman of the Board of Hearst Corporation after I completed a series of discrete assignments wanted not only to hire me full-time as his Chief Executive Officer but thought, as I did, that my personal knowledge of how this one small family rule the entire world’s economy and content to make a mess of everything given their strong support of the big ego, unaccomplished in pretty much everything other than shit talk, lying, stealing and violence, would make the best selling book of all time, other than there was going to be little chance of me getting to enjoy the $6 million royalty advance he offered, even if I were to use a non de plume, as the Oppenheimers would know instantly there could only be one person with this unique and universal knowledge.
 
That is not to suggest for a moment that I have hordes of followers, but this “game of life” is not about attaching oneself to ugliness.
 
In summary:
 
The individual who writes specifically that he works “for the office of Nr. Nicky Oppenheimer” is either on drugs or patently lying about the context of the meeting.
 
 
 
I work for the office of Mr Nicky Oppenheimer. It has come to our attention that
the image associated with this article is one from 2006 when Mr Oppenheimer, as
then Chairman of De Beers, visited Russia after an invitation to consider an
investment into a Russian diamond mine. As part of that trip they were given a
reception by President Putin, where this photo was taken. However, no investment
was ever made and no further meetings took place.
 
Given President Putin’s deplorable actions in Ukraine and the current public
sentiment towards him, it is not in our mind reasonable, or in line with Neutral
Point of View, for this article to use a photo of Mr Oppenheimer and President
Putin as the main image, given the connotations associated with this. I have taken
some time to learn more about the Wikimedia Commons, and the office I work for is
happy to upload a more appropriate, recent rights-free alternative for use on this
page. Otherwise, in the meantime, I hope you can appreciate why I have cropped the
existing photo.

Only a blind person can go along with the meeting taking place in Russia when it is clear the meeting took place in Cape Town, South Africa on 5 September 2006.
 
I bring up drugs because how difficult is it for someone who works for the office of the most powerful and richest person in the world and whose power and influence you know by the fact the media-Hollywood don’t touch him or his family with a glove, other than to applaud their generosity for the downtrodden and leader of free markets globally, cannot simply find another photo of his boss, and then there would be nothing to talk about it?
 
How about the possibility he is overworked?
 
Could you imagine Nicholas Oppenheimer whipping one of his office workers to death just because Oppenheimer is bored with life?
 
Do you ever feel that there is a Higher Power with a sense of humor that we only partially understand?
 
The fact that the Kremlin published the photo with the correct text, begs the question of why such a gross coverup?
 
Obviously Oppenheimer is not convinced Putin is going to win this very, atrocious bloody war that is no longer centerstage. 
 
Instead we learn that a lead Hollywood actor has a sufficient vocabulary of their own to repeat however few that are unscripted without the help of a teleprompter that make certain his punch to the face of a comedian was intended to physically hurt and embarrass Rock to the point that he would never get another gig.
 
Bear in mind Oppenheimer continued backing Putin after their meeting in South Africa in 2006 and you only need to look at the corporation, Uranium One which Putin used in 2010, one year into the Biden-Obama Administration to acquire 20% of the United States strategic uranium reserves.
 
The fact that Jo Becker and others responsible for the New York Times feature story, Cash Flowed to Clinton Foundation Amid Russian Uranium Deal, don’t mention that Uranium One corporation is an Oppenheimer-Anglo American Corporation entity, is telling of the independence of the western media, don’t you think?

Of course, Mr. Zelenskyy and the rest of world who consider themselves conscious, ethical people should all be outraged by Nicholas Oppenheimer suddenly seeking to distance himself from Putin; but then again, the SA Oppenheimers have buttered the bread of a great many who consider the Oppenheimers nothing less than “God”; and then to conclude the design of this universe was all for “devil worship” and the quickest destruction of the planet using defenseless, disgustingly mistreated during their lifetimes, livestock animals to poison ourselves and the air we breath, but even then you know that the poor who remain the overwhelming majority and who are the ones mostly getting killed and dismembered in all the contrived wars would prefer not, if given the choice.
 
When it comes to the big ego human they would rather die than let go of their ego.
 
The person with the most convincing argument must win. Why else have logic pervasive?
 
So we have nothing to lose than wait for tomorrow.

Full disclosure ahead of my reply, you found my email as a volunteer press rep for the Wikimedia Foundation. The WMF doesn’t control the content of articles, Wikipedia editors do.

 
Infoboxes of Wikipedia articles are supposed to only include the subject of the article. Infoboxes routinely crop photos to just one person in a larger photo.
 
Looking at the article’s talk page, there is a note from someone claiming to work for Oppenheimer’s office. This person is claiming that De Beers was asked to consider an investment in a Russian mine, but “no investment was ever made, and no further meeting occurred.”
 
Under Wikipedia’s rules, those with a conflict of interest in the article are allowed to edit in limited situations, such as removing demonstrably wrong information. The use of this photo in the infobox would be wrong, even if Oppenheimer were an oligarch (which he is not), but would be wrong in the article itself, unless there was context given to the image.
 
The image will stay on Wikimedia Commons, but use in an article would require context about the South Africa Business Council meeting.
 
Ultimately though, Wikipedia is not decided by any one person, but by public discussion on our talk pages. You are welcome to create an account, and express your concern directly on the talk page.
