I am now retired, ex-military, aerospace engineer, R&D Investment Director for the Canadian federal government. I have very similar views to yours but I came to it from a different path. I am 57, graduated from RMC in Computer Engineering Hardware, class of 83. I was director of the Aerospace & Defence part of the Technology Partnerships Canada initiative. Can you imagine where man would be had we not discovered fire by way of lightening or hot lava volcano flows. There would have been no industrial revolution, no discovery of materials such as bronze as we would have remained in caves battling against the much more powerful and ferocious predators who would have inevitably prevailed had we not first killed all the human cave inhabitants, and extinct in a flash

 

The rain continues to rain when it chooses and the world continues on, but it would be better without us, humans

 

But without us bad humans how would we know the perfect beauty of nature?

 

Don’t you find it rather remarkable that when sprouting (in water) say lentil beans the entire bowl gets hot as the beans come alive with energy?

 

I don’t suppose you notice much of that in your meat and fish diet.
