William The Conqueror lost approximately 2,000 men, while the English suffered around 4,000.
That was a lot of carnage on the battlefield back then, and nor were those 6,000 losses insignificant given that the population has grown more than 20 fold.

We move forward a little to King of England Henry VIII (28 June 1491 – 28 January 1547) who was born 425 odd years after the Battle of Hastings.
Henry VIII was constantly at war with the French, Scots, you name it, but how much fighting did he actually do on the frontlines?
