It seems that he was in jail and having great difficulty coming up with bail money. (The silence of my Jewish American brothers and sisters cannot be “understated” (sic).)
Let me now tell you a little more about myself. My email address that we are using is not my regular one, which is gary@2facetruth.com.
The name “Issy” is my paternal grandfather’s first name although his birth Christian name was Israel; and “Nathan” is my father’s middle name. My name is Gary Gevisser. Israel Issy Gevisser’s “claim to fame” began making the poorest of the poor black South African street hawkers their morning breakfast, and then 26 years later, 1929, he purchased for cash what few would argue was the most priceless beach properties in all of Israel located in Haifa harbor when he also visited his mother and sister Pessiah in his birth town of Vilnius, Lithuania, and those properties were placed in Pessiah’s name.
After Pessiah and all her 4 children and their children were murdered by the Nazis and their Lithuanian collaborators, my grandfather hired an Israeli lawyer to transfer those properties back to him, and the official record is that the lawyer stole the properties and ended up in jail; but of course, that is not the whole story, not even close.

(There were of course many other coincidences about that writing which followed my first writing titled, ONE PERSPECTIVE, that I sent to my dad on his 77th birthday back on October 18, 2000.

In June of 1948 after your father had flown the one B-17 to Czechoslovakia and then arrested while that aircraft, on its way to Israel, made a most hugely important bombing run over Cairo, Egypt which shook up the entire world’s military establishment, Israel, which was only into its first month of its first war of survival that has never ended, was in the throes of a civil war which Ben-Gurion and his Hagannah-Mossad forces who had recruited your dad, nipped very violently in the bud; known as the Altalena Affair, which my friend Boris Senior was most actively involved in, as he flew his fighter-bomber strapped with a big bomb to its underbelly which Ben-Gurion had instructed him to drop on the Altalena in Tel-Aviv harbor were Yitzchak Rabin and his ground forces on the beach unsuccessful in sinking this ship carrying weapon systems and munitions from the US for Menechem Begin’s Irgun forces.
As far as Boris Senior was concerned, at the time, he was a “secret” member of the Irgun and was most uncomfortable about the prospects of dropping the bomb and killing his fellow commanders including Begin who was on board, and would have been killed by Rabin’s forces had Begin’s officers not thrown him overboard as the Altalena began to sink and most of the weapons and munitions lost.
Boris maintains in his 2004 autobiography, NEW HEAVENS that was only published in English after his death in April 2004, that the entire Altalena episode was a mistake because of misunderstandings between Begin and Ben-Gurion; but he is not right.
The chronology of events is always very important and no less so in wartime.
One week prior to the sinking of the Altalena that brought about death of the very best on both sides, United States Army Colonel, David “Mickey” Marcus, the first General in the Israel Defense Force, was killed by “friendly fire” which immediately resulted in Ben-Gurion opening an investigation to see if his death had been deliberate by the other Jewish military forces that opposed the far better organized Hagannah.
Ben-Gurion also knew that such an investigation would take time and consume valuable resources beginning with the thinking of his best people who also couldn’t bring back Marcus from the dead.
Few people outside of those who plan war at the highest levels have any idea of the spying that goes on at every level and the need to address such critically important matters every step of the way.
I would not have made a good spy because it was obvious to both Ben-Gurion, Senior and others part of Ben-Gurion’s most accomplished spy-network which extended all the way to South Africa where his trusted partner Jan Smuts was the ingenious spy of spies, that I would not have made a good liar, and therefore there were better things I could do with my life than have to be constantly looking over my shoulders, which is what spies have to do 24/7 even when they are put out to pasture.
The only spies that Ben-Gurion fully trusted were those his most inner circle put to work, and then they simply watched ever so carefully the actions of the family members which often times involved having to do no more than have a low wage earner maid serving tea and crumpets to one of the wives having their regular afternoon teas with their friends, observe; and of course you would understand that unaccomplished artists talk much more gossip amongst their equally bzy friends.

In January of last year I received the most diabolical $4 million DEATH SENTENCE from a corrupt Texas Court Judge in cahoots with a rouge member of the CIA which most of all highlights what I have been saying about my former employer, the Oppenheimers, who own the De Beers-Anglo American Cartel which most profited from not only WW II but each and every one of Israel’s wars of survival which have been essential to distract from the main event, which is the ongoing rape of mineral rich countries; and with civil unrest constantly making news headlines, there is less space for corrupted editors to talk about how effective war is in also covering up the tracks of the corrupt.
I must now continue my work.

i just checked amongst the mass of paperwork i have accrued…i dont have the minutes of the courtroom trial, i have all the documents pertaining to the trial…the last entry is nov 17, 48 requesting a reduction in bail…i cant find anything about sentencing etc…i’ll keep looking though

there are tears in my eyes, as I read your response back to my French-Canadian wife.
Please get back to me ASAP on the details of his inexcusable trial. I would like the date it started and ended; and I would assume his prison sentence began right after, although he might have been in prison from prior to the trial.

me out every sunday and do something “neat”…i got to say goodbye to him before he died…he was in a coma like state for a while after having a couple strokes…somehow he knew i was coming and waited for me….it was about 7pm….i sat in his room speaking to his unresponsive body, when all of a sudden he coughed a little and woke up…the nurse gave him some water and left…he reached his strong hand out to me and shook my hand, said “keep the faith” and saluted me (he loved the fact that i was in the marine corps)…then he closed his eyes and passed…(i’m balling right now writing this…)…it was probably the most amazing, appreciative moment of my life…i thank God for that moment daily….

im in del mar california. I am also trying to assist the group who are trying to make the documentary ANGELS IN THE SKY and I would like to see your dad’s story told from start to finish. It is more important in my opinion than anything else.
What was he like as a father?

It would mean that the US Government didn’t want to waste any time in sending a message to not only Americans to help the fledgling State of Israel, and I consider that very important.
Would you know of anyone who might be able to shed more light on his trial?

I have been all over the internet, and all I could find was that he was released in November 1949 which would mean that if he served the 18 months, it would have begun somewhere around June 1948?
Do you know if he served the entire 18 months?

A bit of my background. My dad was an Allied Fighter Bomber Pilot during WW II and flew most of his 71 missions alongside Syd Cohen who would become commander of the Israel Air Force’s only fighter squadron.
Do you know when you dad began serving his 18 month prison sentence?
