The funniest moment last night was when a whole bunch of staff at George’s walked the way you would expect a loose rugby scrum to begin and the leader of the pack was a tall, rather attractive brunette who was asking if anyone had a cell phone ringing, which one of the waiters commented was being picked up by the sound system and annoying a bunch of people, and yet all 5 of us were totally oblivious which meant that we were much louder than anyone else despite only sharing about 4 large bottles of water, one glass of mediocre at best white Spanish wine and 2 bottles of Malbec, although Sebastian had a shot of bourbon
over his vanilla ice-cream dessert; and you know how it is when all of the entire management are exacerbated at the classiest restaurant in all of San Diego given how your partner, former US Attorney Howard Finkelstein was banned at Matre D because he complained about their high priced but mediocre food; and George’s main restaurant food, the best in all San Diego have never experienced anything like this in their decade plus history, and so Marie
not a bad photo, but not the one that will be used for the nude, for obvious reasons, was by this time seated diagonally opposite me, which tells you that there was a little of a musical chair game going on, and come to think more of it, the one gentleman at the table closest to her was from the very start less interested in his immediate surroundings which must have been obvious to the rest of his table including the woman he was with which probably didn’t upset him all that much that he wasn’t going to get laid later, as he never once hid either his entire head pointed in our direction or his eyes darting back and forth, and of course besides for me, this was an exceptionally good looking table, but nor could anyone have possibly thought I was just there to be the iphone cameraman or potted plant given how when Marie’s direction turned up empty I pointed behind me in the exact opposite direction and so this common herd of middle class human sheep started scrumming over towards the entrance, and still no luck, and now even the 5 of us were beginning to pick up the signal that was so upsetting everyone, and for good reason it was the ugliest of the patrons who were making the most ugly faces, and now there were the busboys involved and looking increasingly suspicious at all of us, and we were protesting that all our cell phones were on the table and clearly visible and none of them uttering a sound; then the next moment Sebastian said, “Wait a moment.” After several moments searching his jacket pocket he brings out this remote heart monitor device which Marie called his “heart” that is the source of the sound, which eventually went dead not because Sebastian protested that he had fully charged it that morning.

You know how many more limbless American soldiers there are today than had I been afforded the opportunity to interrogate in public Marc Rich, but then again back then neither of us knew that a decade before Secretary of Defense Cheney made a catastrophic move that the German-South African Oppenheimers-De Beers now wished didn’t happen.
