Continuing from where I last left off.

1.The recordings aren’t working on my computer. Give me a hyperlink to download what I need.

5. There is a lot of “hate” directed at me right now that I have mentioned before, beginning and ending with the fact that those around me for the past decade or so – which have been extraordinarily few ex and non-ex-South Africans who knew me from when I moved to Los Angeles in 1982 and when I started spending more time in the Del Mar-San Diego area beginning in 1991-1992 when I was doing a good deal more traveling, no gossiping, no tea parties, no female distractions, a most loyal and independent girlfriend, most reliable tenants who appreciated me and who I could count on just as they could count on me – these “jonnie come latelys” are so very pissed that they haven’t made a “killing” from all the very CLEAR, SO VERY SPECIFIC advice I have given, ALL FREE OF CHARGE.

Those rather large number of South Africans, most of them Jewish and of course only Jewish when it suits them, and who I “hung” with in Los Angeles are a “different kettle of fish”, beginning with the fact that I never gave advice unless asked; and since I spoke little, they knew better than to ask.

Again, those who know don’t talk and those who don’t, do all the talking.

Again, those doing all the talking don’t know when to stop talking and don’t find the time in their busy schedules to ask the right questions from people who know who don’t talk.

All the rather large number of people I knew up in Los Angeles were of course just a small fraction of the mostly “big talking” South Africans I knew throughout the world, saw me, however, as someone who was quiet, thoughtful and most of all “fun to be around”, and I was all 3, without feeling the need to be the biggest “clown”; i.e. the “center of attention” like my longtime “good friend” Trevor Goldberg who like most politicians wants to please everyone, never confrontational, and in the end pleases no one, apart from losers such as himself; but most of all they knew I was smart and that includes Trevor.

It wasn’t because I drove an “expensive” porche convertible which was a whole bunch of fun, and lots of speeding tickets, 3 in just one day, but that was when I first got it and it was taking longer to get used to the accelerator, and the one ticket had the cop giving up on chasing me on highway 101 just outside of San Francisco, bearing in mind, he was helped by one of those cop planes who simply had another cop in the next town block the highway; and unlike my eldest brother who was caught going through a red light and told the cop who asked the obvious question, “When you have seen one red light you have seen them all!” I was “cool” and appealed to his pocket book in that I let him know that I was glad a good chunk of the fine was going to improve roads, potholes and the such rather than imbeciles who tell highway patrol cops, “So, besides for the power trip of being able to carry a loaded gun, you are not quite happy with the fact that Bruce Willis and Demi Moore’s children go to school with gravlox versus peanut butter sandwiches”.

You understand that this “immediate family” inside joke is designed to have them cool down following an “underling” of my uncle David Gevisser deciding to publicly refer to the Bernie and Zena Gevisser household as “under-achievers”.

Truthfully, I was not driving recklessly at 140 miles an hour on the straights which is when my current Ducati ST4S handles best around the corners, even better with Marie on the back when we have reached speeds well in excess of 140, and that is miles per hour.

Just like all the cops that have stopped me for speeding over the years without coming close to getting my license suspended, but I do still have 9 points on my record which shouldn’t be a problem since the clutch on the Ducati went out the other night when I was about 10 miles from the cliff house and how I managed to make it back, bearing in mind how very heavy is crutch-rocket, is anyone’s guess – most if not all the folks up in Los Angeles saw me as “cool” without all necessarily knowing exactly what I did, but they knew I held down a “respectable job” in a company they had never heard of, but they also knew I hadn’t done an IDB [Into Daddy’s Business].

When the time came for me to leave Insurance Marketing Services Inc., the first thing I did was “give up” the Porsche even though I could have kept it, paid off the little balance that was left on the lease and made another “killing”, instead I bought a box shaped jeep just like the jeeps sold in new car parking lots except it was second hand, but at one time was located on a new parking lot and was just like every other new Cherokee jeep because it came off a jeep assembly line, and I didn’t “stand out” and the South Africans now judged me just a little “slightly less”, but still they thought I was “smart
”, but not quite as “smart”, and the next thing, and we are only talking about a week, maybe two at most, I was now the “top dog” at the hugely successful Epilady USA Inc. even though I didn’t have a title, but I was earning more than any of the top executives who had just a couple of months before, each received a million dollar bonus, and this was in the fall of 1989, after the CIA orchestrated the Tiananmen Square massacres, when money meant more than it does today, but still they didn’t “hate” me and nor did they “love” me because we are now only talking days, and I was off once again to the European Continent, and I was gone all of 10 days when I did 14 countries all the while visiting Israel some 5 times; and when I came back to the States, they began to “hate” me, and I am only talking about the South Africans working at Epilady at their headquarters in Santa Monica, on Ocean Blvd; and it wasn’t because they were jealous I was vacationing as they would have gladly given up half their salaries and all their bonuses just to keep me on vacation since I came back with “bad news”, and I couldn’t be bothered with being “gentle and kind” because there was a real “big problem”.
